End of Summer Season 2026 on Folgefonna

As the 2026 glacier season comes to a close, we look back with gratitude on a long, rewarding, and unforgettable summer on the ice.

From the first signs of spring to the arrival of fresh winter snow, we have once again witnessed one of the most remarkable qualities of Folgefonna Glacier: its constant transformation. Few places allow you to experience the changing seasons so vividly. On the glacier, winter gradually gives way to spring, summer reveals hidden ice formations and deep blue crevasses, autumn brings golden light and crisp mountain air, and before long, winter returns to reclaim the landscape.

Throughout this season, guests from all over the world have joined us to explore the glacier and the surrounding wilderness. Together we have crossed snow-covered plateaus, discovered new ice formations, navigated crevassed terrain, and experienced the unique silence and beauty that only a glacier can offer.

The glacier itself has continued to evolve. Meltwater has carved new passages through the ice, old features have disappeared, and new landscapes have emerged. No two seasons on Folgefonna are ever the same. This constant change reminds us that glaciers are living, dynamic environments that reward curiosity and respect.

The season has also been one of growth for our guide team. Every journey across the glacier brings new experiences, challenges, and learning opportunities. Through countless days on the ice, our guides have continued to develop their skills, deepen their understanding of the glacier, and strengthen their commitment to providing safe and memorable experiences for every guest.

To everyone who joined us this year: thank you. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and sense of adventure are what make each season special. It has been a privilege to share these experiences with you.

Now, as fresh snow settles across the glacier, the landscape enters a new phase. The long days of summer are behind us. Ahead lies the beauty of winter: deep snow, crisp mountain air, the blue light of the polar season, and the quiet darkness that transforms Folgefonna into a completely different world.

The glacier never stands still, and neither does the cycle of the seasons. We are already looking forward to what winter will bring and to welcoming new and returning guests back to Folgefonna.
