Cafe Juklafjord

Since 2009, Cafe Juklafjord has been a highlight among cafes in Fjord Norway and Hardanger. We are one of the few in Hardanger that has a real coffee machine, this in combination with fresh water from the glacier landscape gives the best coffee!

Jukla is a local word for ice, fjord is fjord, the idea of Juklafjord is to take nature knowledge and activity from fjord to glacier and gather it under same roof! The Juklafjord house itself is a schoolhouse built in 1895. There was school for the children in Jondal here until 1961, it then became a kindergarten throughout the 80s, before in the 90s it became a youth club for several years before the house stood empty and in 2008, we bought the building from the municipality.

On March 26, 2009, we moved the house 100 meters closer to the fjord with large crane trucks and restored the entire house from top to bottom. So, there is real courage, will, hard work and history on the walls of Cafe Juklafjord. This makes the coffee, toast, granola and cakes taste extra good!
