Folgefonna National Park has received a high-profile visit in the new season of the NRK series Monsen og nasjonalparkene (Monsen and the National Parks). In the episode “Folgefonna – Weather Rules”, Lars Monsen crosses the mighty glacier together with glacier guide and Climate Professor Jostein Bakke. The trip offers both tough conditions and spectacular nature experiences – exactly the kind of authenticity Folgefonna is known for.
Monsen makes no secret of the fact that Folgefonna is among the most weather‑exposed parks he has visited. During filming, he experiences all four seasons in a single trip, giving a close and genuine insight into life in the national park and into the everyday challenges faced by those who travel there.

Overall, the weather at Folgefonna has been fantastic this fall, a storm here and a little snow there, and some days with magical dense fog on the glacier, but we have had many days of brilliant weather!

Autumn is our favorite time on the glacier! Daily hikes until 12th October. The air is clear and gives us a magnificent view of the fjord below us, and the sea to the west!
